The characteristics of energy-saving EM Ballast

Main Advantages:

1.      Energy-saving. By optimizing the core material and process improvements and other measures to reduce their power consumption, and can be reduced by 20% to 50% of the total input power of the lamp (lamp and ballast power) fell 5% to 10%.

2.      Reliable. Because the core material and process optimization, will generally reduce the surface temperature, while the traditional magnetic ballast manufacturing experience, its high reliability and long service life.

Shortcomings:
(1) the use of frequency lighting, there are strobe effects;

(2) natural low power factor (cosφ high also products, such as resonant inductor ballast);

(3) the consumption of metal and more heavy.

The characteristics of electronic ballast

(1) Energy-saving. Electronic ballast fluorescent lamps, multi-use 20 ~ 60kHz frequency of the supply tube, so that the lamp light efficiency than the frequency increase of about 10% (according to tube length of 4 feet), and its low power consumption, so that the total light input power decreased by about 20% better energy efficiency.

(2) Eliminates the stroboscopic light is more stable. Help to improve visual resolution, improve efficiency; reduce the continuous operation of the visual fatigue, help protect the eyesight.

(3) The starting point is more reliable. After the first successful lamp warm start to avoid a number of starting point.

(4) High Power Factor. Above the national standard 25W fluorescent lamp, the power factor above 0.95. It should be noted, below the national standard 25W lamp required harmonic limits so high that its power factor drops to 0.7 ~ 0.8.

(5) Stable input power and output luminous flux: High quality products with good regulation performance, power, voltage deviation is large, managed to maintain a constant power source, stable light intensity, is conducive to energy conservation.

(6) To extend lamp life. High quality products and the lamp current constant power down, and other factors can make a reliable starting point for extended lamp life.

(7) Low noise. High quality electronic ballast up to 35db less noise, people do not feel noise.

(8) Can be dimming. Places that require dimming, such as: the original use of incandescent or halogen dimmer place, replaced with high efficiency fluorescent lamps, dimmable electronic ballasts can be realized in 2% to 100% of the wide range of dimming.

Shortcomings and the problems should be noted :

(1) Focus on harmonic content.

(2) Pay attention to the product quality and level.

Electronic ballasts on the market today are quality difference and level can be described as good and bad, quite a mixed bag. Mainly as follows:

①    Large harmonic content;

②    Low coefficient of lumens;

③    Reliability is not high;

④    Short life.

Although these products are cheap, but it should be noted that the adverse consequences of not recommended.
